i ABB COMBUSTION ENGINEERING DOCKET NO. 070-00036 LICENSE NO, SNM-33 NOVEMBER 16, 1990 Status of items specified in Notice of Violation

- Inspection Report No. 70-00036/90003.

1.

Failure to display an o propriate

" EMPTY" label'on empty wooden bokes which previously contained radioactive materials and had been returned to the Windsor, Connecticut site.

A)propriate self-adhesive labels had been placed on the. boxes prior to s11pment on an open flatbed trailer to the Windsor site.

However. they apparently. came off during transport. The labeling procedure has been

. revised to require the addition of glue to the labels and to require stapling of the labels to the boxes.

2.

Uranium hexafluoride cylinders were stored in the cylinder storage area without spocific instructions or postings to assure that individual' units and/or arrays are safe.

Operation Sheet 201,

" Nuclear Safety Parameters". contains specific

-instructions for storage of. cylinders in the storage area.

This procedure requires cylinders to be stored on storage blocks with a minimum spacing of one foot between. cylinders.

Further, this information is posted.on the cylinder unloading dock adjacent to the storage area.

An additional criticality limit sign has now been posted in ihe cylinder storage area.

We believe that we are in full compliance with NRC requiremen'ts for the above items. We will routinely audit to avoid further violations'.
