Your memorandum of October 11, 1978, subject as above, requested that the 9
staff provide a quantitative comparison of the advantages provided by additional relief capacity versus the disadvantages of added relief valves for Davis Besse 2 and 3.
The attached memorandum to me from Roger Mattson provides the comparison 1
requested by your memorandum. On balance, the staff feels that the
.M enhanced cooldown capability provided by the additional valves out-weighs any possible negative impact of valve installation.
