Under the flational Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Atr.,mic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is the agency responsible for conducting the environmental and safety l

evaluations when utilities submit applications for constructing and operating nuclear power plants.

In carrying out this responsibility, we have issued Final Environmental l

Statements on Davis-Besse Units 1, 2 and. 3 and a Safety Evaluation l

Report and Supplement for Unit No. 1.

In addition, we have enclosed information regarding site selection and the overall licensing review process. All documentation related to the licensing review of the Davis-Besse Station is available at the Local Public Document Room, Ida Rupp Public Library, 310 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio An operating license for Unit flo.1 was issued in April 1977; however, the licensing review on safety issues has not been completed on the construction permit application for Units 2 and 3.
