response to your letter of September 29, 1973, which forwarded I.E.
This bulletin requests information concerning reactor vessel weld materials and reactor vessel fabrication and suggests that the information search be performed by the reactor pressure vessel manufacturer.
Sone of the information requested by this bulletin has been supplied by References 2 and 3 in response to Reference 1.
The licensee's source for the balance of the information requested is through General Electric Company, our nuclear steam system supplier.
The General Electric Company advises us this request is for a substantial amount of detailed 781218DJL4/

!! r. Boyce H. Grier, Director Page 2 shop information and estimates completion of this task will require six man months per vessel and in our case a minimum of 8 months to complete.
Due to the number of licensee requests to General Electric, we hav-been advised that GE has proposed to the NRC that the most effective and expeditious method of providing the information is on a generic basis by vessel manufacturer.
We understand that discussions between the Regulatory Staff and General Electric Company to arrive at a satisfactory method for providing the required information to the Staff are continuing.
We are actively involved in keeping ourselves appraised of the communications between General Electric Company and the NRC staf f and will p rovide you with our l
schedule for satisfying your request when these discussions are completed.
