Gentlemen:
Haddam Neck Plant Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 2 Response to I&E Bulletin No. 82-02 In reference (1), Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) and Northcar,t Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO), were requested to take certain actions with respect to degradation of threaded fasteners in the reactor coolant boundary of the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Unit No. 2, respectively.
Confirming a telephone conversation between the Technical Contact identifed in reference (1) (W. J. Collins) and my staf f (W. D. Bartron) on July 16, 1982, regarding clarification of the requested due dates for the I&E Bulletin No. 82-02 Action Items, it is our understanding that Action Item 1 is to be completed prior to the performance of Action Item 2, but not necessarily before the completion of Action Item 3.
That is, f
the Action Item 1 procedures for threaded fastener practices shall be implemented prior to the performance of the Action Item 2 inspections.
The report of the completion of Action Items 1 and 2 shall be submitted within 60 days following the completion of the outage during which Action Item 2 was performed. Action Item 3 shall be completed and a report submitted within 60 days of the data of the bulletin.
