Dear Mr. Grier:

Pursuant to Connecticut Yankee Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS)

Section 3.1.1.3, Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company hereby forwards the following report regarding fish impingement overruns.

During power operations with four main circulators running, three species of fish exceeded their monthly limit as delineated in Environmental Technical Specification Table 3.1-1.

An estimated 419 alewifes (ALOSA PSEUDCHARENGUS) 3-6" were impinged exceeding their limit of 330 as of October 31, 1978. An estimated 1217 Glut Herring (ALOSA AESTIVALIS) 3-6", were impinged as of I

October 31, 1978, exceeding the monthly ETS limit (Table 3.1.1) of 710.

t Also, an estimated 581 and 101 Hogchokers (TRINECTES MACULATUS) 0-3" and 3-6" respectively, were impinged as of October 31, 1978 thereby exceeding the monthly limits of 210 for the 0-3" class, and 25 for the 3-6" class as set forth in Environmental Technical Specifications, Table 3.1-1.

There is no apparent cause which could be related to changes in plant opera-tions.

It is felt that the total numbers were small and do not reflect a trend towards increased impingement.

I Very truly yours, e
