SUBJECT:
Completion i 1'Cbnfi m d wj Acti d tems
Dear Mr. Collins:
l In accordance with my letter of February 26, 1982, wherein I stated PSC planned responses to six (6) confirmatory action items set forth at the completion of the January emergency preparedness appraisal' audit, I am writing to attest to the completion of '.hree (3) of those items, as scheduled.
Item number 1 of the confirmatory action requirements called for the integration of emergency action levels (EALs) into the station Emergency Procedures (EPs).
This item was completed effective May 14, 1982, with the re-issue of station Emergency Procedures.
The RERP EALs were analyzed with relation to our existing Emergency Procedures and their " Symptom-Action Matrix" format.
The EPs were completely revised to incorporate classification of the presented symptoms with regard to RERP classification and Significant Event Reporting requirements, as well as to direct Control Room Operations' personnel into the proper RERP implementing procedure or the Significant Event Reporting Procedure.
It is felt that this revision represents the best possible method of inter-relating the plant EPs and the RERP implementing procedures.
Item number two (2) of the confirmatory action items dealt with the procurement of additional Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA),
their installation, and ensuring that essential personnel receive training in its use.
The purchase and installation of these additional Scott Air Paks as described in our letter of February 26, 1982, has been completed, and all essential personnel assigned to onsite emergency response facilities have received additional training in the proper selection and use of the emergency breathing apparatus available at Fort St. Vrain.

Item number four (4) of the confirmatory action items dealt with the altering of personnel emergency accountability stations to assure that.all. personnel are assembling in areas where the radiological habitability'is readily defineable.
This item was completed as stated in our forementioned letter with the revision of Administrative Procedure G-5, effective May 14, 1982.
Personnel have received additional training to familiarize them with these changes, and a personnel accountability drill was carried out to demonstrate its implementation.
If you have questions regarding our response to these items, or.our
. progress on the remaining two (2) open items, please feel free to contact me.
Very truly yours, j - f&=_-
