I wish to take this opportunity to express my continued strong support for the earliest possible completion of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Project.

flo doubt you are eminently aware of the trr 'endous importance of this research and development to the economy, technology and. security of our nation.

It was my good fortune to be involved in-tN planning process concerning the C.R.B.R. Project from its beginning until m. retirement as President of Public Service Company of Colorado several years ago. Over the years, I have watched with great concern the delays that have occurred in its development.

It is still my belief that rapid development of the breeder reactor program is essential-to completion of base technology and subsequent ,

development programs. This will assure our country's renewed leadership in this technology and the savings of millions of dollars to consumers and taxpayers in the future.

The fluclear Regulatory Commission's support of the Department of Energy's request for permission to accelerate site prepar' tion for the Clinch River Project will be greatly appreciated.
