Dear Mr. Palladino:
This letter is to urge the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to grant the request regarding the accelerated site preparation for the Clinch River Breeder Reactor project.
It is our firm belief that America should make every effort to regain its leadership in the nuclear generating field, including our own development of a commer-cially feasible breeder reactor.
If the United States is to have a secure energy future, it must depend upon this important development in the energy field. Develop-ment is now taking place and, in fact, has advanced to a commercial stage in France and the Soviet Union. Definite plans are ongoing in the United Kingdom, West Germany, Japan, and Italy. We must not allow ourselves to be dependent upon foreign interest for this development.
We hope you will look favorably upon this request so that America will be on the road to regain the leadership we lost in the past few years.
