NRC REGION I - UTILITY SYMPOSIUM / WORKSHOP ON ENGINEEd NG'.S ROLE IN PLANT SUPPORT This is an invitation to you and other members of your, staff to-attend and participate in a Region I symposium / workshop to-be held at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on February.20, 1991 from noon to 5:00 p.m. and February 21, 1991 from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p m.
The objective ~of the symposium is to promote a dialog and better understanding between licensee's engineering managers and NRC regarding engineering's role in support of all' plant activities. We recommend that participation' include senior nuclear executives and engineering managers of both corporate and site _ organizations.
The symposium is in the planning stage and preliminary topics for discussion' have been selected: elements of a good engineering organization, licensees' actions with degraded conditions including operability /reportability determina-tions, and the modification process including 10CFR 50.59 reviews.

'As the plans for the symposium are further finalized, interested individuals will be selected to participate as speakers or facilitators and a final. agenda will be issued.

approximate number of your representatives who will' attend, and'_your preliminary requirements for overnight hotel accommodations. We would appreciate receipt of this information by November 15, 1990 so that we can finalize the' meeting-room and overnight stay requirements.
