necessary to ass'ure the guidelines of the generic letter are met..This letter-d provides confirmation that'the vendor: interface program for the' Davis-Besse-
' Nuclear-Power Station (DBNPS) has'been reviewed and meets the staff; position given in Generic. Letter 90-03.
q The vendor interface-program for'DBNPS was originally established.in response-i z
to Generic Letter 83-28.= Details concerning the program were. submitted.by letters dated July 6, 1087-(Serial-Number 1379);. December'18,11987,(Serial Number 1454) cnd-January 30, 1989'(Serial. Number 1628). This program met 1the guidelines of Item 2.2 Part 2 of Generic Letter 83-28.

The staff position provided in Generic Letter 90-03 is less stringent than that given in Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2 Part 2.
As such, Toledo Edison vill continue to evaluate-the vendor interface program and implement the relaxed guidelines as appropriate.
Periodic vendor contact vill _be required.to be made with vendors of
~
pre-determined " key" safety-related components and with the NSSS vendor.
~
i Vendors that do not respond to the periodic contact will be identified and follov-up~ actions vill be initisted.
Follow-up actions vill include a review of component maintenance history and a review of maintenance and operating-procedures. Other elements of the vendor interface program (operating experience reviews, etc.) vill remain unchanged.
