Dear Sir:
L GPU Nuclear requests an exemption from the secondary financial protection requirements of the Price-Anderson Act. As recommended by the Staff in SECY-93-127, " Financial Protection
. Required by' Licensees of Large Nuclear Power Plants During Decommissioning," dated May 10, 1993, and approved by the Commission in SRM, SECY-93-127, TMI-2 should be allowed to withdraw from participation in the secondary financial protection layer, subject to NRC granting of an exemption or issuance of an appropriate order. Therefore, approval of this exemption request is warranted.
