This report transmits the findings of the safety itspection conducted by the resident
inspectors at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. At the conclusion of the inspection,
'
these findings were discussed with Mr. Cruse of your staff.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report
I
which is enclosed with this letter and were selected in order to ensure that your facility is
operated with due regard for the public health and safety. Within these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the inspectors. Overall, the NRC has concluded that your .

facility was operated in a safe manner.
The inspectors reviewed the circumstances surrounding the leakage in the service water
system and have identified several issues concerning the system leakage and the ability to
-
provide makeup. An NRC inspection has been scheduled for November 15-19,1993, to
,
evaluate these issues.
