DOCKET NO. 50-317 CALVERT CLIFFS - UNIT 1 November 12,1993

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE October 1993 The unit began the month at 100rc power. On 10/8S3, at 2330, generator output power was reduced from 850 MWe to 830 MWe as a result of taking 15 circulating water pump off line for bearing repairs. The unit was returned to full generator output power on 10SS3 at 0204. The reactor power remained at 100Tc during this repair since the loss of generator output power was due to an efficiency decrease with 15 circulating water pump offline.

The unit remained at 100% power and full generator output until 10/23S3 at 0200 when power reduction began to allow for condenser water box cleaning, Amertap repairs,16 Feedwater Heater relief valve modifications and oilleak repair on 12 condensate pump. The unit power decreased to 95?c reactor power during the maintenance and was returned to 100% on 10/24S3 at 2120.

The unit completed the month at 860 MWe and 100% power.

l DOCKET NO. 50-318 CALVERT CLIFFS - UNIT 2 November 12,1993

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE October 1993 The unit began the month at 100Fc power and 860 MWe.

Power was reduced on 10SS3 commencing at 0202 for main turbine valve testing and water box cleaning. The reactor power was reduced '.o 84% at 0710 on 109B3 for this testing and cleaning. At 1210 power was increased to restore full power when electrical output power oscillations caused operators to reduce power at 1250. The o.cillations were caused by problems with Governor Valve

  1. 4. At 2210 the unit power was decreased for GV-4 repairs and the unit was taken off the grid at 0309 on 10/10/93. During repairs, the reactor power remained at 10rc. The unit was again paralleled to the grid at 1428 on 10/1093. At 1800 on 10/11S3 the unit was restored to 100c/c power. ,

The unit remained at 1007c power and 865 MWe for the remainder of the month. l l
