Enclosed please find a letter from Nuclear Metals, Inc. requesting an amendment l

to export license XSOU8724 to 1) increase the quantity of depleted uranium authorized for export from 500,000 kilograms to 1,000,000 kilograms (an increase of 500,000 kilograms); and 2) modify the license condition.

Dear Ms. Wright:

Please amend USNRC Export License XSOU8724 (depleted uranium metal to SICN/COGEMA, France) in the following manner:

(1)

Increase the present quantity of 500,000 kilograms to 1,000,000 kilograms; and (2)

Modify the " Material will be used exclusively by the French armed forces." statement to allow for tne re-expon of manutacturea products incorporating the DU metalin non-bulk fonn. 'Ihe DU derby metal exponed by NMI would not be re-exported in bulk form. Re-export of manufactured products using this metal would be subject to French laws and regulations.

Defense articles manufactured by SICN would of course require re-expon authorization from the French government.

Per 10 CFR 170.31, Schedule of Materials Fees, Item 15D, the appropriate fee is $1300.

Enclosed is a check in this amount as payment for this export license amendment applicadon.
