$0dC70 December 9,1993 Chief, Enrichment Branch Fuel Cycle Safety, ONMSS U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Sir:
As residents of the Forest Grove - Center Springs area, we wanted to let the NRC know our feelings about the proposed uranium enrichment plant.
One af our residents, Emma IIlliiard, visited Europe to see plants like this. When she came back, she had many good things to say about what she saw. She spoke personally to people living near the European plants and learned that they were happy and prosperous.
t Before the plant came there, the community had relied on the textile industry, but it had gone bad. As a result of the plant, the economy is much better, as several shopkeepers said.
The plants in Europe have been safe, and we believe the one her> will be too. For example, Ms. Ililliard learned that the pressure inside the building is less than the pressure outside, so air rushes in before it goes out. This means gases inside the building, stay inside.
We believe that people from Claiborne Parish who get hired will have the opportunity to move up. All we want is the chance for our children and grandchildren te remain here and make a decent living. We support having this plant in Claiborne Parish.
