SUBJECT: COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT NUMBERS 50-277/93-29; 50-278/93-29
This refers to the announced safety inspection of maintenance activities conducted by
Mr. D. Florek of this office from October 12-15, 1993, at Peach Bottom Units 2'and 3,
Delta, Pennsylvania, of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-44 and DPR-56 and
to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. D. Florek with members of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas important to public health and safety examined during this inspection are described in-
the NRC Region I Inspection Report, which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and records, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the inspector.
The interface between maintenance activities and the Plant Information Management System
(PIMS) is effective and, in most instances, in accordance with facility licensee approved

procedures (Section 2.0 and 3.0). Training on the " ARTS /MELL" modification is planned
for licensed operators prior to assuming the Unit 3 watch when Unit 3 starts up after the
outage (Section 4.0). Section 5.0 reviews your actions on prior inspection findings.
Within the scope of this inspection, no new unresolved items nor violations of NRC
