Gentlemen:
I am writing to you to express my support for the proposed Claiborne Enrichment Center to be located in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. This plant is needed for rnany reasons; however I will list only a few:
1)
We need the jobs! This area has many people who have a strong work ethic and they are under-employed. This plant would bring many "Hi Tech" jobs to the area. This plant would bring hope back into the community and give our young people a reason to stay in the local area instead of going to Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta to get meaningful employment. The impact / benefit will be felt in the entire North Louisiana Area for construction and operations employment.
2)
Louisiana Energy Services would introduce a proven high technology process. No significant releases of pollutants, such as Uranium Hexafluoride, have occurred at the plants in Europe.
- 3) The Draft Environmental Impact Statement concludes that this plant can be
" constructed and operated with small and acceptable impacts on the public and the environment". Estimated doses of radiation are a small fraction of the doses received from background radiation sources. Impacts of plant operation on surface water and i
ground water are expected to expected to be minimal.
In conclusion, we need this plant! We need the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to complete its review and license this plant as soon as possible. Please include me on any mailing lists that are generated from this project and I would appreciate any responses to my letter.
