Dear Sirs:
I am writing in protest to the Uranium Enrichment Service Plant proposed for Homer, LA.
I have lived here for many years and I enjoy fishing from my back yard which faces Lake Claiborne. If that plant is built here it will definitely contaminate the lake. The drainage from the Hold-up Basin drains from there to the Bluegill Pond and then into Lake Claiborne. It is an established fact that the radiation waste from the Uranium is hazardous and even fish won't be eatable. Exposure to radiation will cause cancer! Leukemia! Genetic defects!
My children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to visit me; therefore, they will also become exposed to this hazard.
Ilomer is not that desperate forjobs that we need that kind of plant.
We do have tornadoes here. LES thinks they are safe here but I can assure yot. they j
aren't. A tornado hit my place and I had thousands of dollars worth of damage in 1986.
The worst earthquake that ever happened in the U.S.A occurred in New Madrid, Missouri.
The magnitude was 7.5 and shook the ground from Southern Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and form the Atlantic Ocean to the coast of the Rocky Mountains. So you see, we are not that far.
from that fault and are also likely to have carthquakes. We are not safe from them either.
All of this is to say, please DO NOT issue a license to LES to build that plant here.
