Dear Sir:

I have been a resident of Claiborne Parish for 38 years and my husband was born and reared here.

We have two grown children and four grandchildren.

We are fortunate that our children were able to remain in this area; our son is a dentist and our daughter is a teacher like me in the public school system.

In 1990, a group made up of.a. cross section of people in the area visited two of Unrenco's plants in Europe.

Both plants used the centrifuge. process to enrich uranium.

I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the plants, and how pleased the local people were to have these facilities as neighbors.

My husband and I live on a farm about'four miles east of the proposed LES site on LA State Hwy.

9.

We go to our camp on Lake Claiborne by way of Parish Road 39 (the Forrest Grove), so I am very familiar with the plant site.

In addition.to the plant being safe, clean, and a good neighbor, it will be a tremendous boost to the economy of Claiborne Parish with jobs and taxes. As a teacher, I can assure you the use tax that will go to the school board (in excess of five million during construction) will be used to improve our school system and is very much appreciated.

May you approve the license application for the enrichment plant as rapidly as possible so that good things can start happening for Claiborne Parish.

Sincerely, jju (Mrs.y Betty Palmer HC 18, Box 45 Summerfield, LA.71079 L
