BAILEY SOLID STATE LOGIC MODULES.
RELIABILITY PROGRAM DOCKET NO.-50-354 HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION To satisfy a license condition, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) submitted, in 1988, reliability data for the Bailey Solid State Logic Modules (SSLMs) in use-at our Hope Creek Generating Station (HCGS).
Earlier this year,Las a' courtesy,

additional reliability figures were forwarded.
Our most recent-data, provided in Attachment 1, demonstrates a 12-month-averaged reliability for che period ending'in. June,_
1990, that surpasses the IEEE performance. standard'for comparable devices.
These significantly improved reliabil'ity statistics _are
~
'the result of an aggressive program that has addressed and corrected the root causes.of'those' failures that have occurred.
-The program has included:-the enhancement of' environmental conditions in which the devices operate, upgraded receipt, l
handling, and testing techniques for the modules, and l
modification of the tracking methodology used for the SSLMs.
E The improvements made in temperature and humidity control have l'
been incorporated as permanent changes to appropriate'HVAC l
systems.
The upgraded techniques have been proceduralized, and the reliability tracking. program, implemented by the HCGS System Enginners, Will not be terminated even though-SSLM reliability remains acceptable; we are committed to a continuous program for the life of the plant.
The results of the tracking program are periodically reported to the Station Operations Review Committee (SORC) and are available to the USNRC Resident Inspectors at all times; however, we will, as a courtesy,-provide quarterly summaries of the SSLM data to.
NRC staff for the next four quarters, ending June, 1991.
