In 1991, LES sponsored a tour of Oconee Nuclear Station in South

Carolina, and our group saw how close the plant was to a large resort-i retirement community that was built after the plant began operating. We also saw people including minorities, who had been trained to do their jobs safely.
Since the government's Draft Environmental Impact Statement says the Claiborne Enrichment Center can be built and operated with "small and acceptable impacts on the public and the environment," pleas continue the activities that will lead to licensing.
Once the plant is built, we expect LES and the government to meet high standards of operation.
