LaSalle County Station Unit 1 Supplemental Response to NRC Bulletin 93-02, " Debris Plugging of Emergency Core Cooling Suction Strainers" NRC Dockets 50-373 l
Reference:
D. J. Chrzanowski letter to the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation dated June 9, 1993 The purpose of this letter is to provide the supplemental l
response committed to in the June 9, 1993 letter pertaining to NRC Bulletin 93-02, " Debris Plugging of the Emergency Core Cooling Suction Strainers".
l LaSalle Station Unit 1 entered a forced Shutdown on l
September 14, 1993 and returned to service on October 5, 1993.
l During this period, the Unit 1 containment was inspected for fibrous material as described in NRC Bulletin 93-02.
The purpose of the inspection was to identify any temporary fibrous material which may have been placed in the containment.
The entire drywell area from the floor (740' elevation including the floor) i to the 807' top elevation was included in the inspection.
The l
drywell head and under vessel areas were also included in the inspection.
The results of the inspection concluded that no temporary fibrous material of any type was installed or being stored in the drywell except for the temporary thermocouple insulation associated with the reactor level instrumentation monitoring.
This insulation and the amount were reported in the June 9, 1993 report.
LOP-DW-01 Drywell Close Out Procedure was completed on 10/4/93 by Operations Department and the results of the Drywell walkdown found the area free of foreign materials and debris.
At this time LaSalle Unit 1 and Unit 2 Containment walkdowns are l
completed and no further action is required.
