Dear Sir:
As a follow up to the December 27, 1993 loss of offsite power to McGuire Unit 2 and in response to the Confirmation of Action Letter issued by NRC/ Region II on December 29, 1993, Duke - Power Company has taken the following actions:
1)
A Site Management Team (SMT) headed by J.W.
Boyle, Work Control Superintendent, conducted a
comprehensive investigation of the event.
Results of -the SMT's investigation were presented to the NRC on January 5, 1994 at a meeting in the NRC's office in Rockville, Md.
All restart recommendations from this investigation have been completed.
2)
A Significant-Event Investigation Team (SEIT) headed by D.W.
- Murdock, Manager of Major Projects, ' Generation Services, also conducted an event investigation. Results of this investigation were also presented to'the NRC at_
l the above noted January 5,
1994 meeting. All. restart r
recommendations from this investigation have been completed.
Long term recommendations identified by each of the above teams will be tracked to completion and will be available for inspection by the Resident Inspectors. As committed in the January 5, 1994 meeting, plans and a schedule for reducing the probability of a Safety Injection actuation following a Loss of Offsite Power Event will be provided by Janua'ry 31, 1994.
