This letter refers to an inspection conducted by Mr. S. K. Chaudhary on :

November 16-19, 1993, at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Vernon, Vermont
and additional review of records ending on December 17, 1993, at King of Prussia,
Pennsylvania. Mr. Chaudhary discussed the interim results of the inspection with -l'
Mr. R. J. Wanczyk and other members of your staff on November 19, 1993.
Mr. Chaudhary discussed the final results of the inspection and the extended records review. ;
with Mr. B. R. Buteau of your staff by telephone on December 17, 1993. ;

The inspection was intended to promote public health and safety, and focussed 'on the ,
engineering and technical support program that assures the continued integrity of the design,
and the operational safety of the plant. Areas examined during this inspection are described .
in the NRC Region I inspection report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, '
!
the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observation by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, the design change and modification program, and
engineering / technical support to the plant operation were found to be satisfactory, and to
meet the regulatory requirements and your commitments. l
