SUBJECT:

CLOSURE OF INVESTIGATIONS (4-92-042; 4-93-003)

This letter is in reference to two investigations conducted by the NRC's Office of Investigations (01) regarding activities at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station (STP).

Investigation 4-92-042 was conducted to determine whether STP security personnel deliberately failed to take adequate compensatory measures for degraded security cameras and to determine whether this was occurring as the result of supervisory pressure.

Investigation 4-93-003 was conducted to determine whether an STP health physicist deliberately falsified records of radiation monitor source checks.

The investigations did not produce evidence to substantiate these concerns.

The NRC plans no further action and considers each of these matters closed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

Sincerely, Mil'hoan Egional Administrator cc:
