October 25, 1993 LCV-0191 Docket Nos. 50-424 50-425 TAC - M80414 M80415 M84523 M84524 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission

. ATTN: Document Control Desk-Washington, D. C. 20555 Gentlemen:

VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT WITHDRAWAL OF PROPOSED LICENSE AMENDMENTS By letter dated May 13,1991, (ELV-01567) Georgia Power Company (GPC) proposed to amend the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Unit I and Unit 2 Technical Specifications (TS) related to the operability requirements for the safety injection pumps in Modes 4, 5, and 6 with the reactor vessel head on (TAC - MSO414, 80415). In addition, by letter dated September 14,1992, (ELV-03889) GPC proposed to amend the TS surveillance requirements for the containment tendon sheathing filler grease (TAC - M84523, M84524).

Based on discussions with the NRC staff, GPC understands that the operaNiity requirements for the safety injection pumps in Modes 4, 5 and 6 are part of the current NRC proposed action related to shutdown risk. As such, the proper course of action appears to be to await resolution of the proposed action related to shutdown risk, and GPC elects to withdraw the May 13,1991, proposed license amendment.

With respect to the proposed amendment to the TS surveillance requirements for the containment sheathing filler grease, GPC plans to pursue implementation of the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS) within approximately the next two years. Therefore, we elect to withdraw 290022 9311050109 931025 h I PDR ADOCK 05000424 P PDR 1
