Dear Mr. Hickey:
In view of the favorable comments published in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on constructing and operating a uranium enrichment center in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, I am writing to support che project and to urge that the NRC expedite the licensing process for this facility.
The benetits of providing a reliable source of enriched. uranium for our nuclear plants, diminishing reliance on' foreign sources, and pr;viding needed jobs for a depressed area accrue with essentially no social cost.
Like other licensed nuclear and/or chemi<;al facilities of all kinds, properly run installations pose no danger to the local or larger public, whatever the anti-techr.ological ideologues would have us believe.
While raOological doses such as 2.4x10" to an inf ant in the 800 meter residence can be calculated,.0000000024 rem has no real life meaning in a world where natural background is

level concentrations of.000001 mg/m of acetone, etc., are similarly trivial.
The benefits of this project are many and far-reaching, the social dislocations very small, the adverse healtl) effects nil.
