NRC Position on Radiological Equipment Qualification for Commercial Nuclear Plants I have reviewed your FAX-to me, dated September ' 16, - 1993, concerning the above subject.
While I agree with the first paragraph of your Telephone Memorandum, I don't think that the second paragraph is a correct interpretation of our conversation.
In addition I have been unable to determine that' the second-paragraph is consistent with NRC policy.
If you would like an official position on this, I suggest you should submit a written request for clarification to the NRC.

In rosponso to Ms Ferguson's specific question relative tc the radiological source terms to be used for post LOCA recirculating fluids in EOF components located in arono ouch as the auxlitary building, ho confirmed that the source terms should mf!act 50% core halogens and 1% core remainder (the 100% core noblegases released assumed to have escaped into containment) beng mixed in the total volumo of water co!! acted in ji the cor,taintnent sump (Lo.; the usable liquid maos inventory of the RCS, tho RWST and the core flood f tanks) Ho agrood that for EO purposes, a scenario posttlating a " pressurized
