SUBJECT:
SVA DECOMMISSIONING PROJECT SOIL SAMPLING PLAN (TAC NO. L30607)
By letter dated August 20, 1993, General Atomics (GA) submitted _its " Soil Sampling Plan for Phase II of the SVA Decommissioning Project." The plan was reviewed by Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff, and a request for additional information was sent to GA by letter dated October 6, 1993. The additional information and a revised version of GA's soil sampling plan were submitted by letter dated October 22, 1993. The decommissioning plan for this facility was approved by the NRC by License Amendment 16 dated November 13, 1990.
Based on our assessment of the additional information provided and the revisions to the soil sampling plan, we are authorizing GA to proceed with Phase II of SVA decommissioning in accordance with the soil sampling plan dated October 21, 1993. As specified in the plan, all survey results will be documented and provided to the NRC and the State of California in a final report.
Prior to final disposition of decommissioning activities at the SVA facility, a confirmatory survey will be conducted by the NRC.
