Dear Dr. Long:
Enclosed is the final draft version of the report " Lessons Learned from the TMI-2 Advisory Panel", prepared for the NRC by the Battelle Seattle Research
- Center. The NRC staff has determined that it would be beneficial to solicit review of the draft from a limited number of individuals outside the NRC.
Therefore it is requested that you review the enclosed draft and provide either written or marginal comments on the report. Although we would like your comments on all sections of the report we particularly request your review of chapters 1 and 2 which provide background and historical information. The executive summary,-listed in the table of contents, is still in preparation and is not included in the enclosed copy.
The staff plans to review the comments provided by the outside reviewers and make suggested changes to the draft report that they feel are appropriate. We plan to thank the outside reviewers, by name, in the report.
If you do not want to be acknowledged by name please state so in your comments.
The staff has also placed this draft in the local Public Document Room in i
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The staff plans to issue the final report to the NRC Commissioners in late February 1994.
The staff also plans to issue the document as a NUREG, for distribution outside the NRC, sometime late this spring. We would appreciate your comments by January 31, 1994.
Also enclosed is an addressed, franked envelope for your use in returning your comments.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Dr. M. Masnik of my staff at 301-504-1191.
