Dear Mr. Hickey:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently published.a DEIS on the construction and operation of the proposed Claiborne Uranium Enrichment Center, Slaiborne Parish, Louisiana.

This_DEIS is overall favorableto the construction and operation of the Claiborne Center.

This center would provide a competitive and reliable national i

source of uranium enrichment services to U.S. customers and independence from foreign sources of this contribute to U.S.

The center would be a complementary and competitive service.

supplier for this service to commercial utilities and provide a means to negate the dependence on foreign suppliers and sources.

The center would not pose a significant threat to public health and safety.

I urge you to support the findings of the DEIS and to' expedite the licensing process for the Louisiana facility.

Sincerely, j
