Dear Sir:
1 I have reviewed the recently published Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) covering the construction and opera-tion of the Claiborne Enrichment Center in Northern Louisiana.
I find the DEIS a carefully done and complete analysis of the impact of this facility on the area.
I concur with the conclu-reach a sion of this report and trust that your office will positive determination.
Nuclear fission as a source of electrical power is very likely to return to public favor during the anticipated lifetime of this facility.
The need for environmentally safe (low waste volume and no CO2) nuclear energy will eventually be recognized by the general public.
Evidence for this can be found in the enthusiastic media support for the recently announced " break-through" in fusion energy, even though this achievement is far far away from demonstrating feasibility let alone practica-liity.
The U.S. needs a stable, reliable source of low enrichment uranium-235 and this proposed facility can meet this need.
Sincerely,
~.,
