Subject:

LaSalle Station Units 1 and 2 - Second ten year inspection interval for the Inservice Inspection (ISI) and Inservice Testing (IST) Programs NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374

Dear Dr. Murley:

The purpose of this letter is to document the effective dates of the second inspection interval for the Inservice Inspection (ISI) and Inservice Testing (IST) programs, including Repair and Replacements, for LaSalle Units 1 and 2.

LaSalle Unit 1: The commercial service date of this unit was January 1, 1984. The starting date of the second inspection interval for Unit 1 ISI and IST programs will be November 23,1994. This starting date reflects an extension of the first inspection interval by 329 days. At the end of the first fuel cycle, LaSalle Unit 1 underwent a long and continuous refueling outage that lasted 329 days.

Paragraph IWA-2430 (e) of the 1989 Edition of ASME Section XI allows an inspection interval to be extended for a time period equivalent to same duration of a continuous outage that exceeds 6 months.

LaSalle Unit 2: The commercial service date of this unit was October 17, 1984. The starting date of the second inspection interval for Unit 2 ISI and IST programs will be October 17,1994. This starting date is determined by 10 calendar years following the placement of the unit into commercial service.

The ISI and IST plans for the second inspection interval will be submitted to the NRC Staff prior to the aforementioned starting dates.

Please direct any questions you may have concerning this information to this office.
