Dear Mr. Hickey:
As an American taxpayer, I have a strong interest in the approach taken by this country to ensure we have energy resources that are economical, environmentally sound, and sustainable. Information I have received from the U.S. Council for Energy Awareness suggests the Claiborne [ Louisiana] Enrichment Center would constitute a reasonable part of our nation's overall energy strategy. It is apparent to me that the Draft Environmental j
1mpact Statement has adequately addressed the important safety issues. A position in opposition to the construction and operation of this facility that is based solely on anti-l nuclear sentiments is not reasonable, given the history of safe operation of nuclear l
facilities in this country and the assurances derived from NRC oversight of the nuclear.
i industry.
1 therefore wish to add my voice to those who support construction of the Claiborne facility, and encourage the NRC to proceed with licensing of the facility.
I Sincerely, f
[
