Mr. John W. Hickey Chief, Environmental Branch Division of Puel Cycle Safety and Safeguards Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, Mailstop 4-E-4 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Hickey,

My letter is written to urge support of the findings of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the claiborne Enrichment Center in Northern Louisiana and to expedite the licensing process for the facility.

I have read a synopsis of the DEIS and I find it to be thorough and comprehensive and it has unassailable documentation to support its conclusions, which show very acceptable environmental impacts'and Furthermore, we can ill afford to positive socioeconomic impacts.

ignore the positive impact on global U. S. energy competitiveness, energy efficiency, and energy security.

Like all projects associated with the name " nuclear," you will receive a barrage of irrational, emotional antinuclear surely invective directed toward canceling this project, and, I assume, a lot of trumped up reasons why it is an economic, environmental and I would remind you that the majority of Americans safety anathema.

still support nuclear power and the projects required to keep it a viable option, even though most of us are a lot less vocal than the zealots from the opposition who will stoop to any tactin to gain their goal.

This is an important project, please help move it forw v.

Sincerely, fW Y Bryce W. Johnson, PhD Nuclear Safety Analyst 18583 Woodbank Way Saratoga, CA 95070 9401100144 931226 PDR ADOCK 07003070 C
