Subject:
Modification No. 2 to Task Order No. I under Contract No. NRC-04 046 Entitled " Independent Assessment of Advanced Light Water Reactor (ALWR) Containment Performance" You are hereby authorized to commence work under the subject task order modification, effective December 31, 1993, with an established ceiling of
$37,694.00. The purpose of this modification is to allow for an additional level of effort, thereby increasing the tota) cost ceiling and extending the expiration date of the task order.
In accordance with Section G.5, Task Order Procedures, of the subject contract, this letter definitizes Modification No. 2 to Task Order No.1.
This effort shall be performed in accordance with the enclosed Statement of Work and Energy Research Inc.'s technical proposal dated September 20, 1993, which are hereby incorporated by reference.
The period of performance for Modification No. 2 to Task Order ho.1 is December 31, 1993 through September 30, 1994. The total cost ceiling is
$37,694.00.
The amount of $35,064.00 represents the total reimbursable costs and the amount of $2,630.00 represents the fixed fee.
The amount presently obligated with respect to this task order is $33,000.00 of which the amount of $30,698.00 represents the total estimated reimbursable costs and the amount of $2,302.00 represents the fixed fee.

The following additions should be made to Task Order No.1:
Task 4.a As directed by the NRC, the contractor will review technical reports generated by other organizations. These reports would have a bearing on the various issues related to AP600 and SBWR designs and/or supporting test programs. At the completion of each directed task, a brief letter report will be sent to the NRC documenting the evaluation results.
In addition, this task includes provisions for follow-up discussions for re-evaluation and reissuing initial letter reports with resolution of comments.
DELIVERABLES The contractor shall deliver letter reports according to the schedule listed below:
Task 4a - As directed on a case-by-case basis.
REPORTING RE0VIREMENTS In addition to specific technical reports mentioned above, the Contractor shall provide a monthly Technical Progress Report in, accordance with Article F3, Section F of Contract NRC-04-92-046.

All applicable provisions to Contract NRC-04-92-046 shall apply to this task order.
TCCHNICAL SKILLS RE0UIRED For the successful performance of this task order, the following technical skills are required:
1.
Nuclear, chemical and/or mechanical engineering 2.
Severe reactor accident research, modeling and analysis 3.
Code modeling and ability to perform scaling analysis The Principal Investigator proposed for this task order must be a senior engineer with an advanced degree in one of the above disciplines of engineering and must have demonstrated experience in computer modeling and code development related to nuclear powar plant containment technology. The Principal Investigator must also have experience in the integration of experimental data and code analysis to confirm analytical methods. The junior staff proposed for this task order must have familiarity with severe reactor accident modeling and code development as applied to containment performance.
