I was born and raised about two miles from the site of the Enrichment Plant, and I have lived in Claiborne Parish all of my 73 years of life.
My _ wife and I operated a country store located at the intersection of Parish Road 39 (Forest Grove Road) and LA Hwy. 2 from 1972 until 1980.
Therefore, we know most of the people that live in what is known as the Forest Grove community.
My parents and grandparents are buried in the Forest Grove cemetery.
Many, if not most, of the Forest Grove residents are old and uneducated.
These people would stop at my store to buy gas, purchase supplies, or just to visit on their way to and from town (Homer).
The residents of Center Springs would go to town by way of IA Hwy. 9, so I do not know them as well as the people.of Forest -
Grove.
If you read the newspapers, you would get the impression that everybody in these communities was against the plant.
Newspaper writers always quote Toney Johnson and Roy Hardis as spokesmen for the residents of Forest Grove.
This is not the case at all.
Roy Mardis and Toney Johnson do not reflect the~true. feelings of the people, and they try to confuse them with all sorts of wild stories about how the plant will kill the wildlife, ruin their water wells and gardens, and kill everybot 2n the area if an accident should:
happen. Fortunately, most do 1.ot f all for this, and want the plant -
to Come.
I support the plant 100% and urge you to proceed as fast as possible to license the plant so that.it may be built and operated in a safe. and profitable manner.
It will benefit the local residents a? well as the citizens of Claiborne Parish and the State t
