Dear Mr. Hickey:

This letter is in support of the construction and operation of the Claiborne Enrichment Center, to be located within the Claiborne Parish in Northern Louisiana. Townsend and Bottum Services Group is in the business of providing temporary technical services to the electric power generating industry, and our work includes chemical and waste processing technology at nuclear power plants. My personal credentials include a degree in Chemical Engineering and over thirty two years industry experience, approximately half of which have been serving the nuclear power industry.

We believe the Claiborne Enrichment Center is an essential element to the continued success of the United States nuclear power program. The project would provide a competitive and reliable source of uranium enrichment services to U.S. customers and would contrubute to U.S.

independence from foreign sources. It utilizes a well proven and energy efficient technology, and will provide jobs for a wide range of people in a relatively depressed economic area. The proposed site is environmentally safe, as one of the lowest seismic risk areas in the country, and is located within a zone that has little danger from severe weather conditions.

Our basis for supporting this project is the summary of the U.S.N.R.C. Draft Environmental Impact Statement, for which we recommend acceptance, and the needs of the nuclear industry at large. It is important that all individuals and organizations cognizant of the benefits of the peaceful, safe and efficient use of nuclear energy stand together in support of this project.

Very truly yours, TOWNSEND AND BOTTUM SERVICES GROUP,INC.
