The Commission was briefed by Dr. Daniel Dreyfus and Mr. Lake Barrett of the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management in.
the Department of Energy (DOE).
The Commission requested further information on the adequacy of the electronic communications with the NRC staff.
Additionally, interest was expressed in schemes that might be used to provide a hierarchial process involving limited access in certain cases and broader access to other people, including the general public.
The Commission requested DOE views on the "important to safety" issue in the proposed revisions to 10 CFR Part 60.
The Commission requested that DOE return at a point when important decisions about future plans have been_ finalized or-when some significant progress can be reported.
The Commission requested that the next update occur prior to a full year.-
