Southern Nuclear Operating Company has reviewed the NUMARC Petition for Rulemaking to amend 10 CFR Part 21, Commercial Grade Item Dedication, published in the Federal Register on October 14, 1993.

In accordance with the request for comments, Southern Nuclear Operating Company is in total agreement with the petition and believes the amendments will promote safe plant operation by allowing utilities to procure quality commercial grade parts more quickly and then to ensure their appropriate performance in the intended safety application.
