LICENSED OPERAf0R REQUALIFICATION EXAMINATION EXEMPTION REQUEST This is in response to your letter dated October 4,1993, which requested an exemption from the NRC requalification license examination scheduled for March 1994.
After considering the requirements of 10 CFR 55 and Point Beach's three consecutive satisfactory requalification program evaluations, we have determined that NRC participation in the March 1994 requalification examination under the guidelines of NUREG 1021, Revision 7, is not necessary.
However, this position does not preclude the performance of the requalification program evaluation utilizing inspection procedures similar to the guidance presented in Temporary Instruction 2515/117, or conducting a requalification examination based upon performance weaknesses.
A telephone conversation was conducted between Mr. Jeff Hansen, Point Beach Principal Examiner, and Mr. Art Morris of your staff on October 19, 1993, discussing our intent.
