SUBJECT: SPECIAL RADIATION PROTECTION INSPECTION AT THE CLINTON NUCLEAR POWER
STATION
,
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. Pedersen and D. Carter,
,
of NRC Headquarters, and Mr. P. Louden and Dr. J. House of this office on
November 29-through December 3, 1993. The inspection included a review of.the
implementation of the new 10 CFR Part 20 Regulations at your Clinton Power
Station facility. At the conclusion of the inspection the findings were
,
discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel and observation of
,
activities in progress. The purpose of the inspection was to review the
effectiveness of the implementation of the new requirements contained in the
revised 10 CFR Part 20 Regulations, and to determine whether activities
authorized by the license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC
[
requirements.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection. The new 10 CFR Part 20 Regulations were effectively implemented,
however, training in the use of electronic dosimeters was identified as an
'
area needing additional attention.
In accordance Atth 10 CFR 2.790 of the commission's regulations, a copy of
this let'cer and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Docuraent Room.
