-STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON RESULTS OF OPERATOR LICENSING PROGRAM RECENTRALIZATION STUDY, 10:00 A.M.,

The Commission
- was briefed by the NRC staff on the results of a study of the NRC's operator licensing functions.
The Commission requested the staff to report on the " turnover rate" of operator license examiners, the. transfer of examiners out of examiner activities and into other activities in either the region, other NRC offices or outside the agency, in comparison to the turnover rate of other NRC employees.
The Commission requested the staff to include in the annual report on the operator examination program a description of its follow-up actions and a summary of the status of implementation of the study's recommendations.

As a separate matter Commissioner Remick would like to have additional information on the staff's proposal to modify its current operator license examiner practices, and how this would be similar or different than having centralized lines of authority for the examiner function only.
