Dear Mr. Rooney:
Enclosed is an application for an export license (XSOU8726), recently received by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, for the export of 2,640,000 kilograms of natural uranium as U 0 for conversion in Canada.
3s Inasmuch as URI, Inc. does not know where the enrichment services will be performed, the ultimate consignee for this export will be CAMECO in. Canada for conversion purposes only.
The retransfer of the converted uranium, if to any country other than the United States, must be approved under a retransfer request.
Assurances are required from Canada that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation.
Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
