PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket Nos. 50-282 License Nos. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Updated Information on the Station Blackout / Electrical Safeguards Upgrade Project (TAC Nos. MB3070 and M83071) on March 20, 1992 we submitted a License Amendment Request reflecting necessary changes to the Technical Specifications resulting from the plant modifications which were being performed as part of our Station Blackout / Electrical Upgrade Project. On November 6, we submitted Supplement 2 to the License Amendment Request to reflect changes in the proposed setpoints associated with the undervoltage protection scheme. These changes were necessitated by our decision not to place new 480V voltage regulators in service at that time because of problems associated with the equipment.
We reported that we needed to confirm the validity of the proposed setpoints by verification of a new voltage analysis. The new voltage analysis has been verified and the validity of the setpoints has been confirmed.
We also have changed our plans regarding the new 480 V voltage regulators. We have decided not to place them in service as part of the Station Blackout / Electrical Upgrade Project. We may at some time resolve the equipment difficulties and wish to place them in service in the future and we would then submit a new License Amendment Request in order to propose new setpoints associated with the undervoltage protection scheme.
We have made no new NRC commitments in this letter.
