I have re.~ently obtained a draft of the Environmental Impact Statementfor the Claiborne Enrichment Center. As I appreciate the conclusion of this draft the NRC concludes that the Claiborne Enrichment Center can be " constructed and operated with small and acceptable impacts on the public and the environment". None of us desire to live in an area, that has I
been contaminated by industrial waste or by the side-effects of an industrialprocess but this.
study should set aside once andfor all the likelihood of this happening.
Dere is always resistance to change. Many in Claiborne Parish resisted building a large lake here severalyears ago. Now the lake with its positive impact on the economy isperceived by practically everyone as good. Fourteen years ago when the prison wasproposedfor Claiborne Parish there was a large out cry against locating the prison in Claiborne Parish. Now everyone believes the location of David Wade Correctional Center in Claiborne Parish is a noteworthy accomplishment making a significant impact on the economy. Now resistance to the location of the Claiborne Enrichment Centeris beingfostered by Citizens Against Nuclear
- hush (CANT) a group ofpeople prone to see terrible things happening whenever any type of change is occurring.

I support the building of the Claiborne Enrichment Center and will do all within my persuasive abilities to bring about the accomplishment of this project.
