Dear Sir:
I have recently taken note of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement by the NRC on Louisiana Energy Services proposed Uranium enrichment Plant. It disturbs me to know that the Forest Grove and Center Springs communities, which are located within one-half mile of the plant site are never indicated in any of the DEIS's 38 maps or diagram and are referred to once in the text. Is this purposeful neglect? Why isn't their social and economic impact a serious part of the Impact Statement. The DEIS must seriously consider the economic and social impact on these communities.
Has there been precedents set by other Uranium emichment plants on the communities who live near them as well as the socioeconomic status of the communities most affected? How is the long term plan for the storage of the radioactive waste? Is there a site in mind? I remember reading in the newspaper on this subject that Native American lands make good spots. I urge the NRC to absolutely reject granting a license to LES for this plant.
