RESPONSE TO DR. MYERS PE00EST OF JUNE 14 1990 (SEAERDOV xx!!)

!TEMS 1 AND. J a The special, independent review team has examined selected weld work oackeges and nonconformance reports to determine the~ overal l -.edecuacy of the.

licensee s nonconformance proce.s. disposition et-nonconformances once identified, and the technical adequacy of seabrook pipe welds. Ihe_ team.did

~

not' review all of the noncon f ormance reports ref erenced

-In questions 1 and 2 nor developed a list'sim11er-to the one referenced in the same Questions. The NRC does not believe it necessary to review.every licensee document or witness every licenseo action to be able to reach a conclusion that the public*s health and safety is adequately protected. The-selection of the information. reviewed was based on the original questions raised, the knowledge and experience level of the independent. experts'on the team and modified as necessary based on the results of the review process. Consequently, the review was of sufficient breadth-and depth to allow the team to make a determination on the ectauacy of the licensee's program to produce technic.& lly acceptable welds.
