. e have completed the review of the Lowman draf t, RAP and are i

W presently reviewing the Gunnison draft RAP. The primary document provided for these sites is the Remedial Action Selection Report, a sumary of the proposed remedial. action that references more detailed information in other, attached reports.
The Lowman and Gunnison Remedial Action Selection Reports present the' characterization and. design information in a manner consistent with the NRC

staff's standard format and content guidance. This has made it easier for the-
,NRC technical reviewers to assess each aspect of the remedial action ~with respect to the EPA standards. Continued organization.of draft RAP.
documentation in this manner for the remaining sites (Naturita and Maybell) will likewise serve to facilitate those reviews.
However, there is one aspect of the RAS conent that needs improvement.
References to more detailed information in supporting: documents should be more explicit, and care should be taker, to ensure that they are complete and accurate. For example, the Gunnison RAS Section 3.2.1 on geotechnical-investigations at the disposal site states simply that logs _are presented in, Information for Bidders. 'A more explicit and accurate' reference-would be as follows:-
" Logs of test pits, monitor wells and.piezometers performed by the-TAC are presented in Information for Bidders, Volume II. Disposal
